How to use this tool
In France tipping is optional (service included). In the US it's nearly expected: 15-20 % of the pre-tax total for a restaurant, 10-15 % for a taxi, $1-2 per drink at a bar. Canada and Northern Europe: 10-15 %. The tool also splits the total fairly among several people — handy for group bills.
Concrete examples
- $50 × 10 % = $5 tip, $55 total
- $120 × 20 % = $24 tip, $144 total
- $80 total split by 4 = $20 each
